Rooftop Terrace, Chicago
Opened in 1926 the Sky-Line Club has continuously operated as one of Chicago’s prestigious private penthouse clubs, serving as a restaurant and retreat for its members. Early in the club’s history there was a terrace accessible through the club’s exterior french doors. This potion of the facility had been long lost and for many decades was nothing more than a membrane roof area, unsuitable for public use.
Taking advantage of the club’s proximity in the Chicago skyline, the dining terrace was rejuvenated and reopened in 2014. NWD’s solution for the renewed terrace required the addition of a fluid applied Kemper roof membrane system, a new roof paver system, NWD designed stainless perimeter railings and glass windscreens. The club’s original exterior steel cased windows and french doors fronting the terrace the were removed and fully restored.
