The Chicago ORCPG office was designed to dispense ample natural light to all occupants, foster an open plan for efficient communication, and provide a material palette that harmonized with the finishes of their Pasadena office. The client requested “clean lines” and an aesthetic that was “contemporary in nature”.

The resulting layout positions office space to the outer walls and provides area for workstations and support facilities to the interior. All office walls adjacent to center spaces are constructed with clear aluminum Versatrac window/wall frame assemblies. Clear glass is used in these assemblies to provide visual communication and to push perimeter daylight throughout the office space.

NWD utilized interior structural columns to establish walled islands where storage could be integrated, thus minimizing interference with circulation and enhancing the cleanness of the space. Strategic accent lighting enlivens the space in periods of low natural light. Focal Point lighting fixtures are used throughout to assist in meeting the City of Chicago’s stringent energy code.
