Meridian Street is considered to be one of the most prestigious streets in Indianapolis. One North Meridian is a historic terra cotta clad high-rise situated just south of Monument Circle. Our client sought to promote an extension of the “festival zone” that begins/ends at Monument Circle. Their idea was to substantially supplement the dynamic character of the street scape in the zone that connects Monument Circle to the major downtown shopping zone.

NWD collaborated with the building’s ownership to design a large scale Digital Media Center. The High Definition LED panels were designed to be an exciting supplement to downtown parades and rallies along Meridian Street and at Monument Circle. The panels were to be used to bolster excitement for sporting events and downtown celebrations by offering direct broadcasting. Throughout other times of the year the media center would provide news, public service information, art and cultural information and target advertising.

The building’s existing exterior retail level is currently a myriad of decades-old renovations. To unify the historic character of the building, the retail level of the building’s skin is to be restored to a more historically appropriate design. A glass and steel pedestrian canopy will be added to the south and west façades to enhance street level pedestrian interface. Streetscape lighting is to be added to illuminate the building’s façade.
